I got the coupon via email on Saturday.  I had tried to use the original code and it failed to work.

Used the code today as the deadline is tonight at midnight PT.  Worked without a problem.

Yes, you have to "purchase" something but not spend any money. There was no minimum so if you wanted to get a comic that had a $14.99 BIN, it was free.

As long as you tried to use it during the prior offer (I didn't complete my purchase since the coupon didn't work), it worked whether you actually completed the purchase the first time or not. Hard to find a negative.
