Trimmed?

9 posts in this topic

Put your eye to the test.

Is this book trimmed?

Front *half* of the book is smaller than the back *half*.

Zero spine roll.

Under a loupe, it doesn't look like it was cut with a razor blade. It has more of a factory looking edge.

No color difference between the surface of the edge and the paper.

A larger scan can be seen HERE!

Here's a closeup of the bottom corner.

Note that the wear abruptly ends at the edge, instead of feathering into the right edge.

Now what do you think?

scan of back?

Does it matter? confused-smiley-013.gif

I don't think the back half was trimmed. Just the front.

Im wondering if its a miswrap?

Why bother trimming just the front cover only.

IF I was gonna trim a book id do front and back

No miswrap. The staples are perfect up the spine.

No roll area on the spine area of the back cover.

The factory fold is perfect and undisturbed.

What is the history of the book.. any idea?

And it sure is an odd book to trim.. and a weird way to trim a book.. at an angle, and the cover only.

It does look similar to Redhooks FF.#48

If you trim the cover only.. I doubt it would leave the normal telltale signs a blade leaves when you slice an entire book.

Does the inside FC edge look at all different then the inside BC edge?

My gut tells me no, not trimmed based on what we can see from a scan.
