bronze johnny
I started a thread on comic books during the Jim Crow era - racial segregation and how comic books reflected the Jim Crow era had interesting examples that were posted on the thread. I don't know whether the search engine goes back more than a year. Edited July 24, 2017 by Sqeggs

sacentaur
I just scored this Fawcett at SDCC the other day. Note that there are two versions of the comic - the regular US edition, and a Canadian (with blank inside covers). This is the Canadian. porcupine48 and Larryw7
GoldCap
Great thread idea Sqeggs! Personally, I've always wanted a copy of Negro Romances #2. First one I've ever seen put up on the bay ended about a month ago. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Negro-Romances-2-Super-Rare-African-Americana-Comic/152592656077?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

sacentaur
Not a good comic at all (unlike many African-American comics, this one usually sells very cheap).
Readcomix
It's not Golden Age, but it's such a niche that I have to ask in this thread: anyone collect Firzgerald's Golden Legacy series and his short-lived Fast Willie Jackson? I do the latter as an Archie fan.

ThothAmon
I'm sure it's revisionist history but I like to think of the Fantom of the Fair as the first African American costumed superhero.

Sqeggs
Here's the guy usually thought to be the first African-American comicbook hero, although, as discussed in another thread, it's a bit ambiguous.
