Slabbed Valiants

18 posts in this topic

I almost never see any slabbed Valiant scans posted, there were some amazing covers from several of the titles.

Seems no one besides VALIANTMAN really gives Valiant any respect.

So PLEASE post em if you got em

Thanks

$1?

HARBINGERS 0 9.8 - $175

HARBINGERS #1 9.8 - $750

MAGNUS #1 9.8 - $100 #2 9.8 - #12 9.8 $50 - 160

X-O , RAI etc. ALL are worth slabbing in high grade for the early issues and the varients are worth even more, so i really don't understand the $1 reference.

Don't mind the Valiant naysayers. The seem to ignore the fact that I have been successfully selling slabbed Valiants for over 2 years. I've probably sold more than 200.

Unfortunately, I do not have individual scans of my personal collection. You are welcome to check out the titles and grades in the registry. Also, I tend to delete the scans of the books I sell.

I did find a scan of a Magnus 9 I currently have up on ebay.

I'm definietly not a Valiant hater. In fact I really liked it back pre-Unity (and even a little after). I bought Harbinger #1 off the stand.

As far as those proces go... isn't it obvious that those sales represent someone buying the label. You can get copies of just about any post-Unity Valiant for nothing and most pre-Unitys for > $10.

IMO Valiant is really one of the best deals out there if you actually like reading comics rather than looking at them stuck behind plastic.

$1 is a good estimate for 95% of all Valiant books in print.

(Actually, $0.10 might be an even better estimate.)

However, that other 5% is the only amount that really matters to me. grin.gif

Rather than post scans from my own collection, here are some photos that

Valiant collector "ricomortis" has of his better ones...

If you prefer them "outside of the plastic"... here's a few worthy of a closer look:

Cover artists in the early years included Barry Windsor-Smith, Art Nichols,

Dave Lapham, Joe St. Pierre, and more BWS, BWS, BWS. grin.gif

Goodness. Are you the owner of the EW 1 CGC 9.8 Gold FLAT, signed by Shooter? I think it's the only 9.8 extant of that book. Wowsers.

Mine is the embossed copy. Just wanted BIGNASTY to know I still am a huge Valiant fan.

Once again greg is right though. the vast majority of valiants are nearly worthless. Also only 9.8 really commands a premium any more with valiant slabs. Even pre-unity books in 9.6 and lower only sell for slightly over the value of the book and grading fees.

Again lots of valiants are being slabbed right now. I think that valiant might actually be #3 on the list behind DC and Marvel in the last census.

Also this is the cgc board if you want valiant fans..head over to valiantfans.com and there are tons of folks that love valiants over there...

I bought all of these books off of the shelf when they came out and thought they were/are excellent reads. Don't know if i'll spend $15 bucks to get mine slabbed, but I'll sure pick up a few for these prices ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6535616553&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT )

Keep an eye out for 9.6 copies of even earlier Valiant books (1991 to June 1992)...

Some of them are selling for about the cost of slabbing.

Not bad for CGC'd NM+ pre-Unity issues.

9.8 is definitely the favorite... but a nice slabbed 9.6 for 'cost' is a deal.
