rjpb
matewan - cool books. What do F.D.C. and S.N.D. stand for, are they distribution companies? If memory serves P.D.C. stands for Printed in the Dominion of Canada.
matewan1990
matewan - cool books. What do F.D.C. and S.N.D. stand for, are they distribution companies? If memory serves P.D.C. stands for Printed in the Dominion of Canada. I have no idea what those initials stand for. I'm not sure if I ever found that out when I was doing my research on these seven or eight years ago. I've always wondered how rare the Blazing Canadian edition is. The guy from whom I bought it said he believed it to be extremely rare, as he'd had it for years and years and had never found another copy. He said there might only a handful of copies, if that many.
CKB
A little later on this one, published in 1951. Guide says PL Publications (Canada)....Weird Adventures 2.
racnek63
I bought this about 20 years ago. Anyone know what number it is?
Stronguy
Here's a copy of Amazing Mysteries #35 I just picked up this weekend. The cover is from AM #32 but the guts are AM #35 (crime stories). The inside front and back cover are blank and all of the mail-in coupons from the ads are blanked out. comicnut
The number should be on the back cover!
racnek63
The number should be on the back cover! You're right. It's Vol. 4, No. 11. Guess that's why I never became a detective. (Although in my defence it always had a backing board.) Thanks.
Timulty
I am glad you told him though. I collect Captain Marvels(Non Canadian) and that is an interesting tidbit of info to know.
comicnut
No probs, I've owned about half of the Canadian Anglo American and Bells. As I recall there were 12 issues printed per volume for Captain Marvel (not so for all titles), so you have #47. Also, fighting back through the cobwebs, I would recall you add about 6 to the number to get the equivalent US edition. I've owned the Cdn version of #18 too! I should mention I buy all Cdn GA comics.
Bronty
The canadian reprints of US books suck, I agree, but I thought this thread was about canadian 'whites' (mostly original and very rare B&W GA cdn comics). I live in canada and although I haven't actively collected for a couple years, in the 15+ years of active collecting, attendance at cons, etc. I can only recall being offered one canadian white. I wasn't actively seeking them out, but still.... I looked at thousands upon thousands upon thousands of books at dozens and dozens of cons... and one copy of one issue (!) turns up?? CArchivist-migration
This is not one of the Canadian Whites, but it is a cool Canadian book nonetheless. The interior is the same as Blue Beetle #50 Don't suppose you could let us (or me :-) ) know the name of the Canadian publisher here? my best -Ray Bottorff Jr
