The amazing thing is they got someone to part with cash for the book.

 

Maybe they were taken in by the following line in the auction description:

'A collectible copy of this issue, as certified by CGC as an apparent 1.5, with slight restoration including small color touch and tape on interior cover. '

Depends on your definition of collectable I suppose.

how low does a comic have to be graded where restoration won't effect the grade?
