Two kids popped by this week. Billy and shy Anne. No need to be shy, Anne, I said. Not when you've just escaped the Fangs of Death! Or, in this case, the Fangs of No Death. No one dies you see. Except perhaps the writer who may have died just a little inside when he saw his snake riddled creation go from coiled cover aggression to interior having a kip.

Let me eggs plain.

You can almost hear them hissing "Look a that idiot. Supposed to be the big man around these parts and what does he do when tied up? Rolls into a snake pit. Sic im boys".

Anyway. A nice book all told. Fangs for the memory 

Now, our boy Bill, he'll be tall and as tough as a tree, will Bill. Like a tree he'll grow with his head held high and his feet planted firm on the ground. And you won't see nobody dare to try to boss him or toss him around! No fat-bottomed, flabby-faced, pot-bellied, baggy-eyed bully will boss him around. 

Apart from the lynch mob that is.

 

Those critters meant trouble, I'll tell you that for nothing... I won't charge you.

Inside, one of the lynch mob (Dave "Carr" Tallman I think) retains his levitating hat and impressive side parting:

 

For some unexplained reason, the Kid is preoccupied with the whereabouts of his duck and this may help to explain why his right fist arm is the only moving part of his body.

    

 

Dave "Carr" Tallman was always a reliable actor, and manages here to hold the pose while the Kid changes the colour of his hat, scarf and waistcoat in customary Charlton fashion. It wasn't the slickest production mind, and if you look very closely you'll see the strings holding his hat up.

Barry Tallman, Dave's noose wielding accomplice needs to mind his language I feel. Obviously it's a scene of heightened emotions, but calling the Kid a git is just base and not what you would expect from a well trained lynch mob member:

 

Anyroad (Fred Elliot), both kids are now in bags.

Morning Charlies 

Quite a lot of success lately I'm pleased to report - the Charlie coffers have swelled to unprecedented levels of pencedom.

I picked up my (third?) copy of Valerie and Mark yesterday at the London Fair. Couldn't leave this copy behind - it's positively glowing!

 

Valerie was my avatar and profile background picture for quite a while and I miss her. She may return one day.

One good thing about multiple copies is the differences you find:

    

The new copy has more top, and less bottom than it's predecessor.

Looks to me that the bonomo taffy has the unfortunate side effect of giving you furry eyebrows.   Tragic and it could have been avoided.

I just read it now, thanks Pete. The notification failed to notify, so there it sat unread, unseen. Ironic given Dippold's occupation. So many people are sighted, but do they see? I don't know.
