I'm just curious what kind of luck people have had finding covers and other replacement parts for valuable books. It's not unusual to find coverless keys (I had an AF15), and I know some people hold them in hopes of finding an orphaned cover, centerfold, etc. Other than things like pinup back covers, it seems highly unlikely for this to ever happen, but I know it does. Who's had their books happily married? Pics if available!

They are out there. I was lucky to find this FC. The BC I feel will be near impossible though....

Easy as pie to find! Can do! Do you have $1900? For $1900, you can have your back cover for this, currently available on ebay.

More choices are Action 23, Flash 4, and More Fun 54, but I assume that these will be more costly to get your hands on unless it's back cover alone or a front-coverless copy. Now, obviously, each one of the above choices back cover mentions the title of the comic, but that could be easily remedied by whichever restoration professional you chose to marry the project together.

Hold the presses, just remembered, Detective 42 also has this back cover. That should be your perfect match! Two of them currently e bay-available:

These will have the Detective Comics mention on the back cover, thus not necessitating a change there.

Thank you. That's great I was unaware of the 42. I knew of the others but am hoping to just get a green label with the married notation, not purple. Do you know if the insides are the same on the back covers of the 38 and 42?

The 42 is the Johnson Smith Co. novelty ad/. About 50 different novelties. I remember that. I'm not 100% sure of the Det 38, I'm going to see what I can find on it.

Think it's different. I had forgotten I had looked at the 42 before.......they say memory is the 1st to go

I think you're correct because I remember the inside front cover of Detective 38 having a Johnson Smith Co. novelty ad! Unless Johnson Smith ads dominated the inside of both covers, the inside back cover of the 42 probably differs from the 38.

PM Joey Post. He'll know for sure if there's two JS co. ads in the 38, I'm sure he's done work on all the early Detectives at some point in time.

Also, you may be able to purchase/read #38 cover to cover on Amazon/Kindle.
