It was a treat to get TBG in the mail starting in '73, triggering hours spent scouring the ads. I did a fair amount of buying back issue Silver Age Marvels and started building my collection of undergrounds (I may very well have bought a few from Sidebottom), all for the purposes of reading with their monetary value and condition never given a whiff of consideration. Just for the fun and entertainment of it all. !! It's true !! In those days, condition hardly mattered. It was more about securing the issue number. As long as the book wasn't totally wrecked, I was quite happy with it. I hated subscription creases though I always avoided the sub crease back issues too. I've read that the all night movie shows were a way to provide shelter for attendees who couldn't afford hotel rooms. They could hang around there and get some sleep if they wanted.
