Just scooped this double cover Popeye #23 and was wondering value and how rare a double cover from 1953 is any help would be great

I don't know how common they were in 1953, but I absolutely love double covers on GA books and am usually willing to pay more for them.

Double covers from that era are relatively common, but they're still cool. A double cover doesn't automatically add much value to a book. However, a book's value is very much affected by grade, and the outer cover of a double-cover book usually protects the inner cover. The grade of the book would be based on whichever cover is in better condition. If your Popeye 23 is high grade, it could be worth $50 or more.
