Zap Comix Issue #0 UK Price Variant

Hey all,

Hope you're well. I'm new to the forum and here to find a bit more info about a very early, and from what I can tell very scarce copy of Zap #0.
From a bit of research, i've found a tiny bit of info on Issue 1, which hold the '2/6' British Price, rather than the cent price. This was the result of British pirates, bootleggers, reprinting the US editions in slightly different colourway, and reprinting for the British market ... tenacious ! It's tough to tell what year they were bootlegged and released into the UK market.

I've seen a few of Issue 1, a couple on ebay - here and here with a pretty crazy price tag but hey.

I'm yet to see an issue 0 surface, so hopefully this will be new to some of you. Charmingly, the final page which holds the Help Build A Better America illo has been doctored by the bootleggers to read 'Keep Britain Stoned'!
Have a look.

As mentioned above, this bears all the hallmarks of being a pirate copy of issue 0 - the cover is printed in only two colours, yellow and black, and the cent price has been erased to read 2/6.
If anyone has any info on this, please share!

Cheers.

I've seen these come up from time to time. These were bootlegged, and I'd guess it was several years after the original Apex Novelties issues were into their at least their 5th or 6th printing, but more than likely later. They are a cool part of the history, but I don't understand people who try to price these they way they do sometimes. Here's a sale from 2014, which I'd see about the going rate for one of these bootleg copies. I'd certainly pay double that price just for that inside rear cover ad.
