cousin itt
The best day I've had as a comic collector has come today...I got my all-time grail book: Wow... would absolutely love to have that one. Now, just get a stan lee sig on it (it's his first published work for timely) while he's still giving sigs, and that would be my ideal book. Mind if I ask how/where you came by it? Illustrious
I do plan on getting Stan to sign it on the splash page right beside Kirby's sig. I came by it two weeks ago when I saw it pop on my eBay feed (I had saved Cap #3 to show up when one was listed) and within a minute of it being up, I shot the seller a quick email to get some more background on it since he hadn't ever sold anything on eBay and only had 9 feedback altogether. He told me about how he had Jack Kirby sign it himself at a San Diego Comic Con in the late 80's and told me the things that Kirby had mentioned to him it the time. It seemed pretty genuine and more than what a common scammer might know about the history of the issue, so with that in mind I decided to take a chance and go ahead and buy it. Needless to say, I was very happy when it really came. Oh that is such a great book... gives me hope that I'll have one day... Hey it can happen, just stay focused, and constantly stay on the lookout. I was able to buy it for cheaper than what a Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.4 goes for, so you just have to set a focus and priorities when chasing books that are like white whales. cousin itt
Wow... I see in your profile that was your most desired collectible. Well, it was mine too. I didn't see that auction. I wish I had, but probably wouldn't have mattered - I think that low feedback would have scared me right off. That's got to be the score of a lifetime. I did manage recently to win that cap #4 on ebay (the low grade unrestored one). Hoping to get it cleaned, and pressed maybe. Not sure if that's such a great idea on such an old book though. I would love to get it signed by stan.

Shark
All Praise Due To Billy AKA Paper Airplane!!! Thanks, buddy!!!! Very nice Is this one harder to find than the other X-Men Gold Pressman variants? I've found 5 or 6 copies of the X-Men #303 Gold Variant in the wild but have never found a copy of this particular book.

I've found 5 or 6 copies of the X-Men #303 Gold Variant in the wild but have never found a copy of this particular book. Absolutely!!! Like I said, "All praise due to Billy" as he's the one who went into the wild and found this, but I can tell you having looked myself that I have NEVER found a better than 9.2 copy on ebay. From what I understand this wasnt included in the Pressman board games like the others but had to be sent off for like the Nabisco variants. Theres 4 9.8s on the census out of a total 10 books graded. I'd be surprised if the 9.8 count ever goes over 10. If it wasnt for Billy AKA PaperAirplane I dont think I'd ever have seen this book in a 9.8 slab. He is a rare slab ninja and hands down the best seller I have ever dealt with on these boards or off.
