You are not.  You are trusting competitive buyers to tell you what something is work by the price they are willing to pay supported by previous sales of the item in an open market.

Sorry, I thought I had a response but I am still too busy laughing at the "published writer" opening.   But, no, many of us in the internet age have happily embraced this "system" as it works far more than it fails.
