A "Reynold Jay" CGC 9.4?

I'm sure you all remember Reynold Jay's infamous "turn a 6.0 into a 9.4 with my pre-work" claim, but it looks like it is paying dividends:

Count the corner and spine creases, along with whatever the heck that is on the title.

I had a X-men #136 that looked better than that that was submitted during CGC's red label days that got a 9.0 because of a small corner crease

Definitely an overly optimistic grade...the upper-right alone takes it out of the 9.4 notch.

JMO...but it looks more like scanner mis-representation of the actual book...

Nope, I enlarged it and there are definitely spines creases and a nice top-right crease that's on the comic itself.

 

That splotch on the title might be on the scanner though, but there does seem to be a dent in the paper or the slab....

I guess reynolds' claim of "the best in the world" doesn't apply to that issue!

I agree that it is not the prettiest 9.4 in existence but what I want to know is where does he get off saying that the winning bidder will get a certificate of origin stating they are the first owner of this book. WTF. What about "world record for quality". What were the criteria, who participated, who voted etc etc etc. This guy sniffs petrol for a living.
