Who should play the next James Bond?

In which film did Bond disregard the feelings of females? All he has is regard for their feelings for him; which are universally positive. Females are his only weakness. What's going on here? Did I not see the past few dozen Bond films?

They should just scrap Bond continuity and make the next movie about Bond's adventures as a kid and call it something like Bond Jr., Agent .007 or something more creative. We can meet his parents, other family members. He could have a dog called K or something. Maybe we see his early penchant for spying on people and sneaking around as he solves some high school conspiracy. We can see his early relationships with girls as in he was always rejected which explains his disregard for the feelings of females later in life.

Oh, I know...Bond Begins. Duh.

When's your operation?

He's just doing what he does: protecting fellow females throughout the world.

Is this actually how the James Bond Jr. cartoon went 30 years ago? I never watched it.

Or the Marvel comic adaptation of the same?

FYI - per Wikipedia, he was actually referred to as Agent 003 1/2

Per the article citing Cary Fukunaga, Thunderball and Goldfinger.

In Thunderball, Fukunaga notes that Bond bascially forces himself on a woman...twice.

And it's more subtle in Goldfinger, but in the book it's explicit that Galore is a lesbian. In the film, it's strongly implied that a literal "roll in the hay" with Bond (in a barn) "cures" her of that lesbianism.

And yet with Daniel Craig it has been noted differently.

Daniel Craig in Cary Fukunaga’s ‘No Time to Die’: Film Review

Quote

Viewed within the context of Craig’s tenure, No Time to Die certainly allows the actor to dig deeper on the rewarding character work he’s been doing since his 21st century reinvention of the role. Previous incarnations of Ian Fleming’s British secret agent have been defined by the sexy swagger, the arched eyebrow and the cool, calm composure even in the hairiest of situations, that glib characterization growing particularly tired in the Roger Moore years.

Craig has steadily minimized those more caricatured aspects as he explored the interiority of a man haunted by loss — notably of Eva Green’s Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale and Judi Dench’s M in Skyfall — and at war with his own trust issues. He’s also fighting against time, as the new film’s title implies. Another crushing loss awaits him in No Time to Die, well before his final reckoning. But what’s notable here is that this is arguably the most tender portrait of James Bond we’ve ever seen; the emotional stakes are raised by a love that’s far more than the usual passing flirtation.

So there comes a point of acknowledging the franchise has made a shift in tone for the better rather than gravitating toward the negative past.

Henry Cavil is keen on being a Bond villain if the opportunity presented itself. The Movie Dweeb sat down with the Sherlock Holmes actor to ask him about another staple of British film. Instead of the constant James Bond questions, the interviewer decided to take a different approach. There have been plenty of high-profile actors to go ahead and stand opposite any of the 007s. Cavill would just be the next in line, but that doesn't make it any less exciting to think about. Unlike some of the other properties that the star gets asked about, this was very direct and to the point. It's amazing to think that such a move would even be on the table, but so much of the James Bond series is up in the air after No Time To Die. Fans have been relentlessly fan-casting their choices for the next British super spy, but nothing has materialized yet. (Nor will it in the immediate future as No Time To Die hasn't even hit theaters yet).

Jill Masterson seemed to really like Bond. I think she was consenting to Bond's flirting while messing around with Auric's card game. Bond didn't put any moves on Tilly before Oddjob canned her. He did force himself on Ms. Galore , that can't be denied. But at least she helped him save hundreds of lives.

Great movie.

I didn't realize there actually was a James Bond Jr. thing.

In that case, they should fast forward continuity to a movie about James Bond in retirement, and call it James Bond: Forget About Forever or something more clever. It could be a 70+ year old Bond off the steroids and trying to hold onto his past but facing the future and his own mortality from natural causes. Maybe he's in hiding (from his enemies) in Glen Coe woods after being outed on Twitter. It's a retirement life of his own making: alone and broken down. At least his bullet proof cabin has a mini-martini bar, even though his primary physician (who Bond calls D) told him to lay off the alchohol. And maybe our adventure begins when somebody is mysteriously murdering Bond's fellow retirees from MI6, forcing Bond out of retirement between bathroom breaks.

I actually kind of like this idea...

And of course another actor who frequently features in run-downs of potential future Bonds is Eternals star Madden. But Madden really doesn’t seem very comfortable about the Bond buzz, if a recent red carpet encounter is any indication. While appearing at an Eternals premiere, an interviewer effused about Madden’s role in the British TV drama Bodyguard and asked him if he would like to play James Bond in the future. The interview was unfortunately immediately shut down by Madden’s publicity person and Madden himself walked away without answering.
