Movie doesn't initially strike me as clever, but the acting might help bring it to life

Is the studio even behind this movie?  I ask because I have not really seen much advertisement for it where I live.  Almost seems as if the studio knows it is a turkey and are trying to limit the damage by not spending on advertising.
