billsid
Just received this Sub-Mariner#1 that I won on the Bay what do you guys think? Covers glossy small ticks along the spine small piece missing FC corner, corners are soft lower BC issue. Thanks Edited February 17, 2020 by billsid
comicginger1789
Looks like heavier tanning to cover edges and pages. For me, in the 5.0-5.5 range. Top staple also looks like its barely hanging on.
theCapraAegagrus
5.0 seems about right.

Dick Pontoon
All a press does is flatten a book and smooth out non color breaking bends or indentations. It's not going to replace the missing LRC nor will it do anything about the tanning. It may even pop the upper staple if it is as precarious as it looks. comicginger1789
Yeah from what I can see, a press is unlikely to do much here as most of the "flaws" are not something a press can help
TSwift25
Higher quality scans would be helpful here. Looks like a heavy dust-shadow on the back cover. Torn overhang on the BC is unfortunate because it looks like it was miscut, contributing to that tearing/fraying. I’d call it a VG/FN, but my experience is CGC hammers dust-shadowing, so it may grade out lower than that.

mike devon
Grading's a mystery to me - all over the shop. (well done though) Edited February 17, 2020 by mike devon

Lower on thi sone but in general I've noticed here on the board an average of about 1.5 difference in grades. That's a big difference.
comicginger1789
Well we are all just self proclaimed experts I like all opinions...I like to think I grade in the ballpark but if someone sees a 6.0 when I see a potential 8.0, I like to know why. And I'd like to see what their 8.0 looks like.

flashlites
I tried grading it before I scrolled down to see what CGC put on it. I had guessed 5.0 but as I've seen overtime I am usually too harsh and am trying to calibrate. Still a great book to have, I am envious. I wish I'd held onto mine. billsid
my concern with this was the Tanning on the inside of the cover you always hear that CGC dings books hard for tanning so I was worried about that thinking if it came back a 5.0 I would be happy but a 6.0 is a true bonus for me considering what I paid for it.
