N e r V
SDCC is only about a month away now so I was interested in what boardies thought were the hot or cold genres or titles or single books right now. I collect most stuff (exceptions being most war or westerns) so just looking for some thoughts on where you would buy right now based on the current market conditions. Be as general or as specific as you like. Romance genre or Baker books or Teenage Romances #14 all work for me. I check some of the market myself so just looking to see what I’m missing. Any help out there for a fellow collector with your insights?

Popular Post batman_fan
My experience over the last 30+ years is anything I want to buy is hot and anything I am selling is cold. shortboxed, entalmighty1, MustEatBrains and 6 others 8

KirbyJack
I’m useless to you. The only recommendations I can give you (that aren’t obvious; PCH, Baker) are Space Western and Foxhole.
Popular Post Ricksneatstuff
From what I see these are all “hot”: Nazi covers (Hitler appearance extra points) Science Fiction books with GGA (Planet, etc) Baker books in grade MLJ Pep, Zip (see Nazi covers above) PCH “keys” (Black Cat 50, CoC 19, etc) Great war covers seem to be gaining momentum too Edited June 16, 2019 by Ricksneatstuff comicnoir, comicquant, The-Collector and 3 others 5
comicjack
All classic covers have a market and the books you can't find are always hot. telerites and Ricksneatstuff
sacentaur
Planets are hot, new collectors keep energizing the run. Lower grade Bakers, Archies, and Centaurs have cooled off a bit, but I wouldn’t describe them as being cold (more like lukewarm). Romance is steadily rising, especially oddball and non-photo cover stuff, some scarce books. PCH hot, obviously. Fox mainline titles remain hot. MLJ generally hot. EC’s heating up. Goofy DC is slow. GomerPyleUSMC
Do not buy any comic book with the word "pal" no matter how rare it is. Edited June 16, 2019 by GomerPyleUSMC comicjack and comicnoir

DeCalro GGA, PCH especially Harvey classic covers, LB Cole, Centaurs, Fox, any GGA bondage covers.

Popular Post rjpb
It feels like more has been "hot" than "cold" for a few years now, and that covers that even remotely fit the "classic" label have shot up dramatically in all genres in that time. Meanwhile, what's generally always been dead, remains dead, though everything has a price that it will sell at, and everything has a price that no one will pay. The interest in long recognized classic covers will never get cold, and the interest in photo-cover Fawcetts and Dells will likely never take off, but the current interest in early Peanuts appearances is an indication that sometimes a dormant genre ( newspaper strip reprints) can find renewed interest. It's as interesting to follow what seems to have plateaued in price (even if just temporarily), even as interest remains high, and what continues to climb. There does frequently seem to be a pause with a lot of red hot books, where the buying community seems to react with a "hmm maybe not that much" that halts the spiral, though often it can pick up again later. lou_fine, damonwad, Ricksneatstuff and 2 others

Well, probably not in the case of Pep 22 as we are still waiting for a few of these to hopefully hit the marketplace one of these days. As for the early Centuars, if it's the right copy at a "reasonable" price, you can bet that I'll most definitely be more than interested in that.
