You mind telling us what you paid for this one? Asking as I have one and it should grade out the same, maybe a 9.0 with a pressing (if I go that route). Asking as I have one and it should grade out the same, maybe a 9.0 with a pressing (if I go that route). Sure! When I first started looking, GoCollect had the 8.5 listed at a FMV of $325, but by the time I was actively ready to buy, they had upgraded that to an FMV of $350. I saw this one listed on Sept. 15 for one of those auctions where it's either bid or make an offer (no BIN price), with a starting price of $345. I made an offer at starting price, and the next morning the seller countered with $380, and I bought it. At the time, I figured it was a good deal at only about 8% above FMV, because other copies were selling for huge premium percentages over FMV. GoGollect has since upgraded the FMV on an 8.5 to $400, and copies are regularly selling above that still, in the $440-$495 range for an 8.5. I liked that this one was a newsstand too. For what it's worth, I posted this in the "ASM 300 Heating Up" thread the other day: Quote Speaking of paying percentages over FMV, since I've been hunting pretty closely on the 'Bay and a few other places this week in order to try and get a copy that fit my budget at as high a possible grade and quality I could afford - without trying to overpay like crazy - I've noticed that some of the recent sales on this are nuts compared to what the current FMVs are listed at. For example, on Sept. 16 alone: 3.0 OW/W newsstand sold for $169.95 - about 41% over GoCollect's currently stated FMV of $120 (that's with no comp sales in their sales history though) 9.6 OW/W newsstand sold for a best offer price of $1,275 - 70% over GC's currently stated $750 5.5 OW/W newsstand sold for a best offer price of $345 - about 57% over GC's currently stated $220 Even an 8.5 PLOD C-1 W newsstand sold for $370, which is still 5.5% above GC's FMV of $350 in a universal grade (this was on Sept. 15) It may be just coincidence that these are all newsstands in the last day - direct editions this week have also sold pretty high above GC's stated FMVs too. 2 different 9.6 directs sold for $1,200 and $1,090 (current stated FMV of $750); a 7.5 direct sold for $350 (current stated FMV of $290); and two different 9.4 directs sold for $675 and $725 (current stated FMV of $425). The FMVs have been updated a bit since I posted that, but basically all copies are still selling at huge % premiums over the now-current GoCollect FMV. Interesting to note that their FMV on a 9.6 went from $750 to now $975 in one week, and 9.6 copies continue to sell at right around $1,200. I am very surprised at how high it has gone in price, didn't know until I looked it up just now. Jesse-Lee

My preference on copper books is toward the newsstands, because the closest "comic specialty shop" for me in the 80s was an hour and a half away (and I was still a few years away from being able to drive), so my only option was to buy off the rack at the local drug store and grocery store. So I like buying comics now that represent what I mostly would have had the chance to buy back then. Morganmi
