Marvel Secret Wars UK vs US 0

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can give me more information on the differences between the UK and US versions of the marvel secret wars 

I know that the US edition was a 12 part collection, and the UK edition was a 31 part collection, and so I'm wondering what the extra 19 comics include in the UK edition? 

Are only 12 of the UK editions the same as the US versions and the rest are bonus/ extra/ different stories? If so, which issue numbers of the UK version are needed to have the equivalent 12 piece US collection.

From what I have read there were more issues in the series from Marvel UK because they decided that instead of just reprinting the original US title as it was originally printed they would add filler stories to each issue and stretch out the title longer, of course for more sales.

I was going to suggest checking out the Grand Comics Database page for Secret Wars UK -

but when I looked at it myself, I noticed that none of the issues have been indexed. Sigh. Another project, then...

This is correct. The first 9 or so pages are from the US Secret Wars series. The rest are various bits of things like Avengers, Alpha Flight, Zoids, etc.

The tricky part about collecting the UK series is tracking down all the freebies -

thanks for your help, so basically they tell the full secret wars story just also with filler stories each comic.

 

I managed to pick up issues #1 - 31 for around £35. They dont contain the free gifts but the comics are in great condition, with no tears where the stickers have been removed etc.

 

Pretty happy to now have the full secret wars collection, albeit over 31 comics
