Question about a piece torn from book 0

Hello, I was wondering would a small tear out of the book only qualify the book to receive a .5 grade, at the highest?

It looks like it might slightly affect the story.

No, that piece missing by itself would not bring the grade to a PR 0.5.

When a book is graded the books overall condition is taken into consideration.

If the book in question was to be sent to CGC for grading with that piece missing from an interior page the book would probably receive a "Green Qualified Label" meaning it would be graded as if the piece was not missing and a notation on the label would specify, "Piece missing from page 16/17. affects story".

My suggestion would be to open a thread in the "Hey Buddy, Can You Spare a Grade" section with pics of the cover (front and back), close ups of the spine/edges/corners, the splash page/inside front cover, centerfold, page 16/17 with the missing piece to get an overall grade for the book.
