Rive
Just curious for a rough grade. Going to send it off over the next week or so (still trying to decide if I should get it cleaned and pressed as well)
marvelmaniac
I have concerns about the staples and miswrapped cover, is that the way the book came from the bindery? The spine shows the most wear with vertical/horizontal creases that break color, slight edge wear and blunted corners. The book presents extremely well, however, with the spine and staples I cannot assign a grade above a VG/FN 5.0, hopefully I have under graded this book and it comes back higher. 5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN): Back to TopAn above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present

I really hope you’re wrong too but your points are definitely valid. the binding was that was from the factory by the looks of things. I can’t see another fold that suggests it’s been shifted or damaged over time. The rest of the book is nice and flat. I found that the spine was the real risk in buying this piece but decided to go for it. Just hoping the bindery defects aren’t considered so major. A 7 would be a nice achievement for this one given the age and wear, fingers crossed!! thanks for your assessment

Harry Lime
The greatest Spidey book ever. 6.5 but I wouldn't be surprised if it came back a 7.

ChrispyC66
6. However, the top and bottom edges look really sharp for a book with so much spine wear. Seems odd.
vaillant
FN to VF sounds good. If the stress along the spine is better than what we see in pictures, definitely a FNVF.
