Leert
Hi! I have one very nice copy of X-men 101 that was stored in in a bound collection (see images). The staples were removed and string inserted through and as you can see from attached images it was cut pretty badly. I know it's always going to be a low grade and I probably will never get back the cost of having it slabbed but I've been scanning the forums and Google.ing this thing but I find it unclear if this would automatically get 1.0 or what the max grade would be for comic like this. Does anyone have an idea what's the maximum grade a book like this could get (if nothing else could be found wrong with it), and what label it would qualify as (blue/green)? And if I would insert new/old stables to it would it improve the grade or would it just move it to the purple label category? Best regards, Lee
OuterboroGuy
Assuming it's not trimmed, and you do not put new staples in, maybe a 2.0 blue label? A lot of those bound volumes trim the books to fit the cover. Leert and The Lions Den

Oliver Gordon Jr1
One thing never understand is why bound comic books in the first place??? I remembered when I working for FDA they get their Talk Papers and Press Release bound, but we all know that Talk Papers and Press release is not a collectable items! Leert
My bad...first time posting here. Wish I could move it to the other sub-forum
The Lions Den
The only thing I can compare this to is a book I saw that had been bound in a 3 ring binder (so it had three moderate sized holes near the spine that went completely through the book). As I recall, that book received a blue label 3.0. So I think you're probably in that territory with this one, as long as there's nothing else going on... Of course, if there are no staples, that's a completely different issue... Edited February 29, 2020 by The Lions Den
B2D327
I believe it would get a green label since everything is detached without the staples and a 99.9% chance of purple if you try to add new ones The Lions Den
Leert
Update: I removed it from the binder and now it looks like this. It has not been cut (top/bottom/sides) but the stables are missing. Other issues with this comic I believe could be dry cleaned and pressed out. Shame since it's a very good looking copy, like I think of all my children comics Thanks guys for your input..I really appreciate it.

comicginger1789
I would also not have removed. Bound volumes are neat oddities. thunsicker
