ADAMANTIUM
No, but I've had situations where I might have felt better if they had Bad grammar Jae Lee signed a statue of mine, and I thanked him for his work. I packed up the statue in my backpack at a con, and before the end of the day the statue broke. I went back to jae Lee to get on his sketch list.... showed him the statue, he said ah I'm sorry, which was cool... But then as a usual foot in mouth moment goes, I replied ya now if I ever sold it I couldn't I didn't mean cause he signed it, but jae or mr. Lee was still cool and kind of chuckled Haha Now I dont know if I insulted him or what? Hahaha Juxtaposition for sure Hollywood1892, Comics4All and kav 2
Ken Aldred
Because of my northern English accent and my fairly restrained volume, Russ Heath once quite loudly told me to speak up because he was a bit deaf. Which was a fair enough reason to be shouty. Edited May 15, 2020 by Ken Aldred Comics4All, ADAMANTIUM and kav

Popular Post Robot Man
Brought this book to SDCC one year to get signed. Since Martin Nodel was there and created the original character, I figured what the heck. Mart and Carrie being the simply wonderful people they are, didn't say anything and signed it with a smile. But, I had a plan. Real reason I brought it was to have Gil Kane sign it. Walked over to his table that he was sharing with Julie Schwartz and carefully pulled it out and asked him to sign on the splash. He went off when he saw Nodel's signature calling him a string of names I can't say here. and grumbling about his !@#$%^& green ink. I was a little shocked and frankly a little scared. Julie took a look at it and signed it with a smile. He told Kane to "sign the kid's book Gil". So begrudgingly signed his name on it and my GL #1 which was similarily signed by Nodel. I guess there was some bad blood (probably on Kane's part) who was probably accused of ripping off the original even though they were two separate characters. At the end of the day, I came home with a couple pretty unique books... FoggyNelson, rsouxlja7, littledoom and 19 others

Sounds familiar, I recall reading once about a dispute they had along those lines. Another frustration Kane had was feeling like he was handcuffed when working on GL. He talked about everything having to revolve around "that damn ring" referring to the GL ring in an interview. I guess his grievances boiled over. Jim Shooter probably yelled at someone once or twice. Not the most charming guy on earth

Popular Post kilowatt
I went to a comic show in Akron, Ohio around 20+ years ago, and John Byrne was there as a guest. He was in a separate room drawing most of the day, and when he`d finish a sketch he would auction it off and the proceeds went to The Ronald McDonald House Charity. The entire time I was there it was nothing but She-Hulk, not really my favorite character, but still cool to watch him. Bidding ran around $100 or so, and he kept pumping them out. He must have had a time slot because he had mentioned he was leaving shortly and he only had time for a couple more. One of the guys in the room was kind of loud and he said to his friend how Byrne was a hack and a terrible artist, and he only knew how to draw She-Hulk because he copied all his X-Men characters. Unfortunately everyone including Mr. Byrne heard it. He set his pencil down, and proceeded to rip this guy a new one. How this no talent @!#$% has the nerve to criticize his work and insisting he came up there and do a better job. I felt embarrassed for the guy as everyone applauded. Well, most exited the room figuring he was done for the day. I watched the auction end and walked out. As i was leaving the show, I circled back around and he had just finished one last sketch. He held it up and it was Wolverine, his back arched and his claws out in front. Beautiful! There were only 3 of us in the room and the bidding started at $25. I bid $30 and to my surprise nobody upped it. I won! He called me up and asked how much "blood & guts" I wanted on the claws, and I told him to do it up. As he was putting the final art on the piece, he apologized for becoming so irate with the guy earlier, and how everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I had the proof he can draw other characters. I found out later he actually donated his time to help out the charity and received nothing in return. Nothing. He really was a nice guy and I felt bad for him having to go through that. I guess some people are jealous of other peoples talents and can do nothing but try to bring them down. I wasn`t in the line of fire that day, but witnessed it.
