David Anthony Kraft on Defenders (as wacky as Engelhart)

Good point.  The lady with the globe head was epic.

Kav, not to derail as everyone seems to agree Moore is Copper Age (I agree too), but did you like his last Superman story? (Superman 423/Action 583)? I would think that would be up your alley.

I didnt really care for it as it seemed like the last episode of seinfeld where they tried to cameo/recap as many old characters as they could.  It wasnt awful.

Steve Gerber is my favourite BA Defenders writer.  Introduced The Headmen.

Extremely creative.  His Fear / Man-Thing run is great.

Omega The Unknown is an interesting read as well.

I could see that. I remember thinking of it as a charming tribute, but I could see myself possibly having your reaction on a subsequent read.

Thank you, I couldn't recall which one did that Headmen era without digging them out and checking, but all three did some wacky, fun stuff on that book. A greatly underrated read of a title through most of the run and several writers.

Best SA writer gotta be Stan Lee and I'm a DC fan.

I'll admit I've bought reasonable priced VF copies of SA ASM and the like just to read :)

I must agree with you, and the copies are shipped to cgc now. I figure I can repurchase and pick up a trade of them again.

But really nothing beats picking up decent copies, imo, and reading the original and knowing the copy existed back then lol

a real nostalgia transference ha! But it happens, since I was not alive back then ;)
