Hey so I got this in the mail. 

 

Is there anyone at all here that thinks that this slab stood a chance?  Anyone think that this is appropriate packing of a slab?

 

Then, the seller did seem to imply reasonable thought ... in the same breath that he accused me of something that made no sense whatsoever  (he said I was trying to scam him??) ... how the f did this happen in the mail EVEN with this poor packing job?

 

Lastly, I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what scam or angle I would have here?  I get a great deal on a book ... bust it all up ... and then try to return it??  I am trying to figure it out ...

Not that great of a deal if you would rather return it then get it reholdered.

If it's simply mailed in a padded envelope I would give the packing 1.8 GD-

I'd give the post office a 6.0, I'd expect that thing to be destroyed loose in a padded envelope. 🤷‍♂️

I think the implied scam is that you broke the slab open yourself to swap out the book with a lower grade copy and then return it due to the damage while keeping the nicer book for yourself.

I mean it’s a 9.8. I’d send to CGC for a reholder and request the seller reimburse that cost. If they decline, I leave feedback and eat the cost myself if the book was that great of a deal
