Drummy
Brian, I totally agree. To me, simple and elegant = beautiful, and I cannot stand hypersexualized (huge global breasts, ridiculous waists, collagen lips) women and hypermuscularized men that have no bearing on actual human anatomy. Give me a clean, realistic image without too much linework. Classics, not cartoons. Dan Noob19 and RBerman

Any particular offenders you have in mind? I know some of mid-90s stuff got a little silly here, but can't think of anyone (off the top of my head, anyway) that I'd describe that way these days. Adam Hughes and Art Adams are two prominent artists who come to mind.

Yeah, after making the post, Adam Hughes was someone I thought of. But I'd say I've seen some pin-ups of his that are fairly restrained as well as some that are more over the top. I'm a huge sucker for Arthur Adams, so I find it tough (if not impossible) to criticize anything he does. Twanj
exitmusicblue
Same-face syndrome, I don't mind as much unless it's in the same piece of art (Betty and Veronica also get a pass, haha). But it kills me when, say, Black Cat Gwen MJ look like the same person with different wigs.
FuzzyDunlop
If it’s an artist I love but I don’t love the story it’s from, I will probably pass unless the page in question is just an absolute killer. Even then I’d probably take a long time to think about it. So long that someone else would snatch it up and make the decision for me.

Charles Schulz essentially used different hair and clothes to distinguish their looks. Heresy?? Edited August 4, 2020 by Will_K

exitmusicblue
naw, I spot telltale differences. Lucy and Linus have wrinkles around their eyes. Siblings, after all. Only Peppermint Patty has freckles. The gal with the glasses (Marcie?) is a total outlier. No eyebrows, even, sheesh. Charlie Brown and Sally are def siblings, too. Would love to hear more if you don’t mind elaborating. Why gold, for instance? The vast majority of comic OA is in black and white. When you say color of the comic, what do you mean?
