Popular Post djpinkpanther67
I’m very saddened by the news. He was a good man and deserved better. We exchanged many books over the years. When I reached out to him last year to resolve an issue, he told me of his illness. It was a gut punch and a reminder how precious and short life is. What a horrible year 2020 has been. So much pain and loss RIP Bob you are already missed namisgr, oakman29, James J Johnson and 2 others

Popular Post october
Here's another quick story about Bob. About 10 years ago I spotted a Cap 74 on Heritage that I thought was beautiful, with a back cover defect holding down the grade. I looked for this exact copy for years and years, and one day Bob mentions he bought a nice Cap 74 from a friend. Lo and behold it was the one I was after, and he didn't hesitate to pass it on immediately at basically his cost because he knew I would love it. It's one of my favorite comics. astrometric, smithdatura, Jayman and 27 others 29
Popular Post blazingbob
I'm very sorry to wake up and read this news. I knew Bob was very sick and not doing well. Bob was a customer I knew over 20 years. I've sold him a lot of books and he was a regular at chicago shows for years. We had a strange relationship because he had a "odd" sense of humor since we were both older guys. Bob's favorite quote when we saw each other was "How's the flow". Without getting into specifics I always thought that was an odd greeting but again it is just a different sense of humor. For those who didn't know him lets just say that he will be missed. If you are only a keyboard collector and eventually a show comes up maybe get out in the world and get to know some dealers/other collector's. Leave a legacy or memory that people will remember versus just an obituary. dhgladiator, Moondog, piper and 21 others 20
smithdatura
Many years back in one of my first sales threads, I sold a book to Bob and as a relative n00b, was actually a mix of nervous and excited to have a transaction with someone who was clearly a respected veteran on the boards. Interacting with him and then getting some nice feedback about my packaging and shipping - and my grading of the book itself - did a lot for my confidence and sense of belonging as a member of the community. Very sorry to learn of his passing and will miss seeing his contributions here. KirbyJack, F For Fake and James J Johnson
skypinkblu
59 minutes ago, Ryan. said: Is there anything we can do to help his family? @october @skypinkblu He knew he was ill for quite some time, he had the same kind of brain tumor that John McCain did. He was a very nice man and it was sad that he had to suffer through that. I'd be happy to help, but I don't know his family. If someone does and they need help and want to contact me that would be fine. However, he seemed to be planning for the inevitable for a while or at least that was the impression I had from him. Just a sad weekend, so sorry for his loss. Icculus308win and James J Johnson 1

mysterio
Terrible news, he was a great guy and a passionate collector. We had talked on the boards a few times and then I got to meet him at a WW Chicago. He'd reached out to me about a year ago as he was selling some books, and though I couldn't afford them I wanted to help him out (and they were gorgeous books I am proud to own, especially having come from him). Last time I talked to him, which was a few months ago, he said he was doing a little better.
