Philly monthly show 9/4

5 posts in this topic

With a Big Apple show next week and the Baltimore extravaganza in two weeks, it was relatively quiet at today's Philly show at the airport Ramada Inn, with some dealers bringing only a portion of their offerings at the coming shows. Still, there were some sweet books to be had.

First, a cool Cardy cover with absolutely killer cover colors and white pages, from the outstanding late Silver/early Bronze collection Al Stoltz has been offering for awhile:

Next, the requisite slab, a white paged beauty from the Las Vegas collection being sold by Nationwide Comics. Only a sun shadow at the top and a small indent on the back cover dropped it to a 9.2:

Here are two great deals from Gary Platt. On the first, Iron Man appears to be in some deep doo-doo:

And, finally, a mid-grade ten cent DC with outstanding color preservation and bone white pages, that proves once again how great it is to attend a show and peruse potential raw purchases close-up:

That's what you have to expect at this show... there's some good dealers there, but the clientele does not really seek out slabbed books. Even the dealers who have that inventory, don't really bring it because there simply isn't the demand.
