Gaard
These are both in the current CL auction and they both have 'B' written on the cover. Is that a location (like Boston)? Or does it mean something else?
Lightning55
It could be a distributor's coding system, or the venue that sold the comics back in the day, similar to arrival dates. Or someone whose name begins with B wanted to mark them with identification. Maybe someone knows from observation what they have in common. telerites and littledoom
ADAMANTIUM
When I saw this title I totally thought this is what you were talking about, slang, and had never heard it before From dictionary.com B or b WHAT DOES B MEAN? B is an affectionate term for a loved one. It is often times used to address a homie, ya girl, or ya moms. Gaard
Both from the early 50s, but different publishers. The printing company maybe? Oh, and murder hornets.

Yes, different publishers but they do have the same distributor. Note that both cover sport the letters ANC. That's the distributor American News Company who distributed until 1957 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_News_Company

catman76
Just some kid whose name starts with B putting their name on their comics most likely. 30 years ago I bought a box of old comics that all had a cursive L on the covers. They all belonged to a kid name Lawrence. Edited September 26, 2020 by catman76 oakman29
mosconi
I had asked a similar question regarding the "P" on these Spidey books. It was considered that the letter could represent a local distributor rather than the national distributor. Very interesting topic to me because I have also seen an "R" on a Spidey book I own. Possibly different codes used for different local distributors written by the newsstand retailer
