jpease
I feel pretty confident that this would be a 9.8, except for the smeared black ink on on the top edge near the corner. You can tell that the ink was smeared on it before the green and orange ink was applied, because the ink is smeared over the reflective part of the cover, but not the colorful parts of it. The green and orange ink was applied after the ink smear dried. Would this smear decrease the grade? If not, and assuming it was otherwise a 9.8, would it come back as a green-label 9.8? I'm taking your word that the book is flawless. As far as CGC 9.8's are concerned they can have minor manufacturing errors.

comicginger1789
CGC 9.8s of this issue can be had for under $100 (and sell for $60-80 usually) so if you or anyone really wanted one, they would just go with that rather than this one with the production flaw. Basically, why risk grading it because if they do hit the flaw and it gets a 9.4 or 9.6, it really is all a waste.
