FC Markings. Are these distributor marks? How do they affect grade?

I have a series of books spanning several years with an "x" written in the upper left hand corner near or over the date and issue number.  About 20 books.

Would you think this is a distributor mark?  Or maybe someone else marked the covers for some reason.

Otherwise the books might be in the range of 6.0 - 8.0

How does this "x" affect the grade if the book?

Thank you.

Thank you.  How would you grade it with and without the x on the cover?

Should I post this question in a different area?

To be honest, I'd be more concerned about the spine stress and warping/waviness than the ink mark. In mid grade, a small mark like the one present isn't usually a big deal, at least not from what I've seen...  (thumbsu

There are some collectors who have personal flaws they just do not like on there books.   Some of the main flaws are tape, writing, cover tanning, detached staples etc.  While others just factor those types of flaws into the grade and it reflects its value.  Small amount of cover writing would just factor into the grade slightly or not at all in mid grade.
