Opinions on this ASM 300 defect/damage 1 1

Hey guys, this book is in very nice shape and at first glance appears to be high grade. On the back though, pretty much in the middle of the book are what look like 2 scrapes. They go though the cover and a page or two inside. Could this possibly be a production issue? How do you think CGC would treat this and what might the book grade if it’s otherwise, let’s say, a 9.2. Would it get a qualified grade perhaps?

Great looking book I would grade it a 7.5 blue with those flaws.  It’s possible it’s production related but it’s going to impact the final grade.  Pressing could help minimize the severity of the dents.

+1 on that.  Pressing might get it to 8.0 or 8.5.

If it’s possible to flatten and roll back any paper snag, than press flat. An 8.5 is still within a cgc window grade.

Looks like an 8.0 as it stands with the edge wear along the front cover. A press might get the indentations out but the color loss is there to stay. You’d get a blue label since the book is complete unless for some odd reason you’d want to insist on a qualified green label or try to touch up the missing black for a PLOD 😱

Actually, if you mean the right edge, that sort of jagged look is really common on ASM 300, so I'm pretty sure CGC wouldn't be too harsh on it. But yeah, i'm thinking probably 8.0 overall with the back damage, regardless. A damn good looking 8.0 though! And I think I picked this up for about $20 circa ....2008?
