I’m really confused. I’ve thought a missing centerfold was a .5 but I was going through google images and see green label books which have been graded much higher with missing centerfolds. What’s the deal. Thanks

If it doesn't effect story, then it can get a Qualified label.

It's a choice. You can either have 0.5 blue label (the accurate grade) OR a green label with a higher grade where the comic is judged ignoring this fatal flaw.

"If it doesn't effect story"

"if the missing material effects a story"

In both these cases, the correct spelling is "affect".

Affect is a verb, effect is a noun (accept in rare cases).  People interchange these and use the incorrect form 100% of the time.  You'd think it would be at least 50/50, but it's not.  Please stop it.

C'mon guys.  The folks who come to this forum with legitimate questions deserve correct answers and/or sound advice.   A book that is missing one or more panels, leaves, or wraps is incomplete.  With respect to grade, it does not matter if the missing material effects a story.  If CGC assigns such a book a Universal Grade and encapsulates it in a Blue Label holder, that grade would be 0.5 PR.  Here are a few examples:

B1-1.thumb.jpg.7c9000acd5e13f4096a66d6648e58c9d.jpgB1-2.thumb.jpg.098aacd633012e8bb2d0e730cdb8ce63.jpgB1-4.thumb.jpg.37eee6cef2e3a5c1bdefbc95ab451d75.jpg

At their discretion, CGC will sometimes assign incomplete books a Qualified Grade and encapsulate it in a Green Label holder.  In this case, the assigned grade accounts for all features/flaws other than the lack of completeness.  Here are some examples:

Thanks guys! Inquiring minds just wanted some clarification on this. I wasn't sure if these were anomalies I was seeing or just part of the process

If you'd like to know more, you can always access the Heritage site for different examples of Qualified books with missing pages and other aberrations...always a fun and educational experience...  ;)
