I was just thinking.... Hurricane Katrina must have totally ruined thousands of comics. I wonder if some LCS in NO had an Amazing Fantasy 15 that was totally wrecked or maybe looted. Could have been any other valuable comic too. I am guessing the really valuable ones were already evacuated before it hit. Some long box inventories may have been hit though.

No doubt some comics were destroyed. I seem to remember someone here (Shiver maybe?) saying the back issue comics scene in NO wasn't all that great so the number of issues lost was probably not significant...

The only LCS that I have ever heard of in NO is Crescent City Comics. Dunno there status.

My last trip down there,I bought a Strange Tales 101 from an antique dealer in a flea market like pavilion right on the Mississippi.

Can't imagine that quonset-like hut survived intact.Comics weren't one of his priorites,so who knows what stock he evac'd ahead of the storm.

Almost all his books were in the G/VG range,btw

We had a forum member post that he lost 12 long boxes of comics thanks to the hurricane. He really didn't go into details on all what was in that collection and it didn't seem like a good time to ask if you know what I mean..

A very good customer of mine lives there. I am assuming he probably lost some stuff because his last 2 orders have been over $1k. Hopefully his books are ok, but yeah I assume a lot of people lost more than comics.
