HotKey
The top left image of Duke isn't there on the Tales of GI Joe #14 reprint, but it's there on the original run. Anyone know why it was dropped from just this1 issue?
Lightning55
Looks like if they put it there, it would hit the artwork where the gun is, covering it up. Maybe the artist didn't reserve enough room for the sales block, so they had to revise it on the fly. GeeksAreMyPeeps and HotKey

On the reprint layout, the price box was below the image, and they didn't want the pistol obscuring the price or CCA stamp. Lightning55
I forgot that the artwork would have been done for the original long before, not new work. @OtherEric seems to have it right. OtherEric

Yeah, the original has the Marvel Banner across the top. Later, Marvel added the Marvel logo to the price box area which made the price box dimensions change. Not Trimpe's fault. You'll actually note something similar on the cover to G.I. Joe #47. They changed the corner box art to a 25th Anniversary version (which was much longer) so they decided to cut the art in the corner box logo before printing. Here's how it was originally supposed to be printed. You can compare this against the final published version. It's too bad they had someone else draw the missing art. Zeck's original version underneath the stat as much better. Skunkboy, eee91, pubmonkey and 2 others
