OT Inheritance Trilogy

I was wondering if anyone has read books 1 and 2 of Inheritance; "Eragon" and "Eldest." Are they good reads? A store in town has a box set of the first two book, in HC, for $25. I've been contemplating picking them up, but I really don't know anything about them at the moment.

I havent read them but have seen the books.

My wife says a lot of her students are reading them though. So it must be a decent read if 8th graders are reding them.

Apparently, they are supposed to be "The Next 'Lord of the Rings'" type of deal.

I think the person who writes them is something like 16 years old.

I'm really surprised that this specific group of people have nothing really to say about it. I figured have of the forumites here would know what it is or have read it.

My friend has read the first two, and he seemed pretty unimpressed. I would take him at his word, he has probably read over a hundred sci-fi and fantasy books.
