Are early Marvel trading cards REALLY getting that hot?

I'm over on e-bay and seeing Deadpool cards out of X-Force #1 and Stan Lee cards going for thousands of dollars. Lots of early Impel stuff is going for loads. The listings seem legit. Is this just a case of "collectibles are crazy right now"? Or are PSA 9s and 10s really that hard to get for cards that have ever been touched? (I'm not much of a card person.)

I just sold a complete set of the “hot” 1990 Marvel Universe cards. Included were 3 holograms, 3 prototype/ promo cards and a complete set of empty wrappers.

I appealed to a local guy’s greed and sold them for $500. He immediately put them on eBay and they ended up at $190.

Although not professionally graded these were mint cards I took out of the packages.

You tell me...
