Why are Japanese Pokemon cards from the 1990's entered as unumbered?

How come when you enter a character with a Japanese language into the submission form, you don't get a number option for 1990's pokemon that have the 3digit number only.  The only options are unnumbered orall the later versions with xxx/xxx style numbering.   The 3digit number is never listed.  Is it to force you to use the pull down to identify the set since the 3digit number and character name is usually the same in multiple editions?

Hello! They are listed as unnumbered because they indeed are. Those numbers are simply the PokéDex numbers for those Pokémon.

Thank you,

Paul
