The story of young Thor slowly being able to lift the Uru Mallet. I know kirby gets a lot of plotting credit but I seriously think the use of Norse Mythology was all Stan Lee. Prince Namor
Kirby throughout his career used the Gods of various mythology in his works from as far back as Mercury, Pluto, Jupiter, Minerva, Apollo, etc. in Red Raven Comics #1 (1940), to Hurricane, "son of Thor, god of thunder, and the last defendant of the Ancient Greek immortals" in Captain America Comics #4 (1941), to 'Thor' in DC's Sandman in 1942 (see below) Bo1983, jimjum12 and KirbyJack 2
Popular Post Prince Namor
And then there was this story in DC's Tales of the Unexpected #16, a full 6 years before Marvel's Thor would show up. It's interesting to note that Marvel pretty much reused this story idea in Journey into Mystery #92 with Loki as the thief of his hammer. Mjolnir looks exactly as he would use it in Marvel's Thor. Robot Man
As a kid, I put the early Thor JIM books back on the rack because I didn’t get the whole mythology thing... But I did buy all the DC Bizzaro stories! Edited May 19, 2021 by Robot Man Raze, Gaard and KirbyJack
