ASM 361 manufacturer's error - top staple missing

So, my understanding is that a missing staple is a manufacturer's error - but can anyone offer input/experience on how this error affects grade? 

The book has never been opened. It was bagged/boarded the day it was bought. I didn't even know about the missing staple until I took it for pressing to get graded. It's a 9.8 all day long - but missing the staple. 

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks; I was wondering that myself.  I've come across some books in my collection with that same manufacturer's defect.
