My Sob Story - PGM Raphael #1

Hey guys.. Had a house fire this past Sunday. Everyone is safe but one of the main victims is one of my favorite issues. Raphael #1. It was a graded 8.5 I had up on my wall.

Unfortunately it was high enough on my wall that the smoke and heat decimated the holder and, even though the interior capsule stayed sealed against smoke the capsule and the issue itself were seriously rippled and when I cracked open the capsule it ended up lifting ink from the front and rear cover... I'm heartbroken..

In this unique situation, if I do opt to still send it in for grading (it's sentimental at minimum, and even still somewhat valuable if pressed properly) should I be opting for pressing or full fledged restoration service?

Thanks for any advice.. My local paper ran a story on the fire, if anyone is interested..

Harrowing experience. Tim, I'm glad your family made it out of the home safely and everyone is alright. Your community is pulling together great to help y'all.

As for what to do with the book, maybe begin with a C&P and see how that turns out. Build from there.

However, in your shoes I think I would leave the book as it is. My hope would be to look at it and not remember what I lost. I could instead look at it and remember the grace my family and I experienced getting out of that house in time.

My best to you.
