T.I.L. Today -- Gardner Fox and E. Gary Gygax 0

So earlier today I was re-reading my 1st edition AD&D Dungeon Masters manual and I was specifically looking at the various appendixes.  Well appendix N is a list of suggested reading by Gary Gygax to get a feel for AD&D.  One name on the list was Gardner Fox.  I have read this manual as well as the other 1st edition AD&D manuals numerous times over the last 38 years (starting when I was 12), and that name never really jumped out at me before, however today it did.  I thought this couldn't be the same Gardner Fox that worked for DC Comics and numerous other publishers, but sure enough it was.  He apparently wrote some sword and sorcery novels that Gary Gygax thought were good enough to be included in his suggested reading in appendix N.

I was blown away that I had never noticed this before, seeing as how I've been collecting comics for the last 37 years.  I know this is not earth shattering news, but I thought it was interesting and just thought I'd share.

Yeah, I spent more time reading those books cover to cover than playing the game.

While watching The Green Slime (1968) last night, I noticed that a William Finger co-wrote the movie.  Was a little surprised to learn that it's the same Bill Finger that created Batman.

I wasn’t into D & D as a kid, but having put a lot of time into playing video game RPGs I now appreciate Gygax’s immense importance to the genre.
