Jayillustrator
So I'm not super new to this. I understand people don't always get the grades they want. I usually do well getting my 9.8s but this time I got some 9.6s and a couple 9.4s all good. That's on me. But can you guys help me find a flaw that would make this a 9.4?? I can't find anything that would warrant that big of a drop. Maybe a 9.6 on this but please let me know if I'm missing something. Cgc customer service told me to share it here because if I send it in it may come back lower than 9.4 🤣 If this comes back lower than 9.4 than I pretty much know nothing about comics LOL. Funnybooks
Appears 9.4 or better, albeit these foil covers are tough to grade especially through a slab. I "see" one small defect above the "V" in Venom and "maybe" a slightly soft corner on the LR FC... Edited September 1, 2021 by Funnybooks
Popular Post theCapraAegagrus
Nobody is going to be able to discern a 9.8 vs 9.6 vs 9.4 based on pictures. KCOComics, 1950's war comics, djzombi and 3 others

Sauce Dog
That slight lower right corner blunting and dent above the title would be enough for me not to feel confident sending it for a 9.8, but exactly how much of a hit who knows.
LowGradeBronze
Was it pressed before grading? If there were some unpressed light finger bends etc that could hit the grade. Plus the inside of the comic that is now forever hidden from view...
rexinnih
I had my Venom Lethal Protector come back in July at 9.4 with the below notes. Can't really see "scuffing" but there is a small bend. Your right bottom may be the same. Grader Notes:light scuffing to cover small bend right bottom of front cover Funnybooks

Yeah, it's always hard to search for defects in photos, doubly so through plastic, and triply so with a foil cover like this. That said, the indentation about the V in Venom is pretty obvious, and there may be some color lift / scuffing in the red foil area inside the curve of Venom's left claws as well. I also agree there's something a bit wonky with the LRFC corner. I think what looks like discoloration around the bottom staple on the BC is just reflections off the case, however. I could see a 9.6, but at 9.4 it's kind of unimpeachable, which is how I like my grades. The Lions Den
Is there a tiny tear at the bottom of the top staple? If there is, that could do it... Funnybooks

This is 100% true Here is the small bend I noticed and that the note seem to speak of. Other things that stun people expecting 9.6-9.8 and they end up with 9.2-9.4 are fingerprints, faint staining and slight rust on a staple. revat
there's also potential for scuffing that can only be seen at certain angles in certain lighting.
ninanina
I've heard from a trusted source it's quite possible to send in a stack of 25 perfect comics you think should come back 9.8 and some will come back anywhere from 9.4 - 9.8. The graders are looking for defects, and are very good at it. They will notice things you never noticed.
