PGM Amazing Spider-Man 50 - Miscut or trimmed?
3 3

As far as I can tell this comic has been miscut and not trimmed, but I would appreciate any input as well as what grade you think this may be.

The width at the top is about 6.75 inches, while the width at the bottom is just under 7 inches.  Would someone trim just the top and leave it uneven?  For comparison I measured both 49 and 51 and they both measure about 6.75 inches at top and bottom.

Other than that here are some details:

  • Some tearing at the top staple, but still attached
  • A bit of a rough edge on the top left
  • Light creasing on the lower left near the spine
  • Folded corner bottom left back cover

Thanks for your feedback on this book!

Is that a tear on the back cover, bottom edge, right of center? Or a crease? Or just dirt? I'd say 6.0 or 6.5, in part depending on what's going on there.

I don't see anything that immediately makes me think this was trimmed. It's certainly not the most trapezoidal Marvel book of this era I've ever seen.

I'm lower at 5.5 to 6.0. Too many tears and creases for me to go any higher.

I don't think anything has been trimmed. You can never be 100% sure from photos, but I would imagine anyone who would go to the trouble of trimming with a view to improving the appearance / desirability would have trimmed the white bottom edging also, which is present due to a bad cut in production.

It's always nice to be reminded of the contents of that book though :)

6.0

Likely miswrap with a poor cut at production.

Thanks for sharing.

Yup…leaning towards miswrap.  Hard to tell without the comic in hand. 🤙
