My guess is that a press would reduce the rippling (unsure by how much, though), but not any discoloration caused by the moisture.

A proper pressing can remove all the ripples and waves from the moisture damage. 

Pressing won't remove any color breaks, but can greatly reduce any due to the white cover.

As mentioned, discoloration will  not go away.
