Tim;

Don't really have any from personal experience since I don't really tend to pick up CGC slabs, except on the very odd occasion. One that I was comtemplating was a Crash Comics #5 in CGC 8.5 which I found out had been slabbed earlier with a CGC 7.0 grade. 893whatthe.gif Thank god for Heritage's auction archives and my natural insticnt to check something out before buying. CGC serial numbers as follow:

Crash Comics #5: Before 7.0 (0073628002)................After 8.5 (0079258004)

Another example was the Lost Valley copy of Master Comics #26 with the Raboy cover slabbed as CGC 9.0 which I saw at the SD con. Just as I was about to pay for the book, I decided to walk down a few aisles to Basement Comics for a copy of their Lost Valley catalogue. Good precaution since the catalogue listed the book as being only a CGC 8.0 grade. May have been a typo, but I wasn't going to take the chance. Sorry, no serial number stats for this book here.

Another good place for you to look would be on Arty's Edgar Church checklist whereby he shows both the current and old grades for some of the Church books. Again, there are no serial numbers here, but still better than nothing, I guess.

Good luck on your database. thumbsup2.gif

Don't forget the Avengers #16 Pacific Coast copy that went from a 9.2 with 1 staple, to a 9.6 with no mention ANYWHERE of a missing staple. One of the classic resubs!

9.2 CGC # 0019280001

9.6 CGC # 0044755001

Here's the thread on it.....it started out as a discussion of an Avengers 57 PC, but quickly turned to this book mentioned above. Pacific Coast Avengers 16 9.2 to 9.6

The seller could have just bought new copies from Donahue and had them slabbed, in fact the seller could have been Donahue!

See also my PM...

Multiple copies of Donahue File Copies (same printing) do not exist to my knowledge, but if you have information to the contrary PLS bring it forth. Indeed this is contrary to information presented by Heritage's Jim Pitts on the subject (see below). I am aware of Schenker/Last Gasp File Copies and Fred Todd File Copies, and b/c of this there is overlap on some titles (e.g. a Schenker File AND a Donahue File) and between printings (1st/2nd), but I have not seen this for Snatch in my research and neither is this reflected in GPAnalysis (there are two listings for #3, but not for #1 and #2).

"Well as THE person responsible for "Don Donahue File Copies" allow me to explain. Besides his "inventory" Don has maintained a "collection" that he kept in manila folders and metal file cabinets. What he is consigning to Heritage, that we get slabbed by CGC, are not the copies that he sells on EBay, or in his catalogs. These are the personal copies that he kept at the time because he thought the condition was superior to any other copy he had at the time.

Thanks, when I get a chance I'll look at the before and after scans to confirm they're all resubs of the same book. If anyone else would like to cast their expert eyes too, I would certainly appreciate it.

How do you know that the Donahue books are resubs since there are multiple file copies in existence?

According to further research conducted by EggsAckley, this statement appears to be true. More correspondence is pending and will be presented, but the Snatch Files may NOT be RESUBS as I had previously posited.

For the record, I should've know better than to question Eggs. . . brother sold me my CGC 8.5 Mr Natural #2 (1st)! cloud9.gif
