If Britain's police is called Scotland yard is Scottish police called Britain Yard?

so why does part of the country get to be named after???  Like should we call the white house the nevada house?  it makes no sense.

It's all one except for Northern Ireland. Although Scotland is set to have a referendum on leaving the Union next year, I believe.

and why is it a yard??  over here police depts have buildings to work out of.
