Welcome back Kotter was before my time, but it comes on still and after listening to the theme song....

I'm certain this is where Jim Morrison got some of his lyrics.

Jim Morrison had been dead for 4 years when the first "Welcome Back Kotter" episode aired.

I had of course seen reruns before but the lyrics or melody is the same with Jim Morrison.

1970?

Morrison died (supposedly) in Paris in 1971.  Welcome Back Kotter began airing in 1975.

One of my favorite "scenes" in Stephen King's The Stand is where Morrison pulls up at a gas station in Texas in the mid-80s.
