Thanks for taking a look.

Beautiful book in many ways.  Bright, clean and glossy.  Interior pages complete, supple and not brittle.  No stains.  Not soiled.  Staples tight with no signs of rust.  Centerfold tight.  Lays flat.

But the most notable defect is the missing piece at the top of the front cover measuring about .5 inch by .25 inch.  Other defects are present such as the upper-right corner being banged throughout and a crease on the bottom half of the back cover.

I think the missing piece makes it a 4.0 but I would welcome other opinions.

When grading you are grading the "Entire Book", not just one defect.

If the damage to the top edge was not present, IMO this book would be in the VF 8.0 range, IMO, with the defect it will drop the grade substantially but not to a VG 4.0.

An above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present.
